We’re excited to welcome Marta Barberini, Global Lead Destination Marketing & Partnerships at GetYourGuide to the FutureTravel Summit this October in Barcelona.
Marta works with DMOs, museums and public bodies around the world. Her goal is to help travel move from volume to value, meaning fewer crowds packed into the same famous spots, and more benefit for the people who live there.
In practice, that means spreading out tourism’s economic impact more evenly, encouraging visitors to stay longer and explore beyond the iconic cities, and creating experiences that are good for local communities.
Based in Rome, Marta has spent more than nine years at GetYourGuide. She sees tourism as both a data problem and a human one, and she is working to show that when platforms promote authentic experiences and help spread visitors out thoughtfully, everyone wins; travellers, destinations and the places they visit.
At the FutureTravel Summit, Marta will give a how-to session: “How to Measure Your Impact on Tourism: Data, Partners and What to Watch Out For.” Cities, regulators and residents are asking tougher questions about what tourism brings to the places travellers visit, and companies are expected to answer with evidence.
Using GetYourGuide’s impact studies in Spain, Italy and France as the example, Marta will show how any company can start measuring its own impact. Join us in Barcelona on October 29th to see it live!
