FutureTravel Summit Speaker: Joshua Ryan-Saha, Director at Traveltech at the Edinburgh Futures Institute

We’re excited to welcome Joshua Ryan-Saha, Director at Traveltech at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, to the FutureTravel Summit this October in Barcelona.

Joshua’s job is to figure out what travel technology is doing to the industry before the industry has fully noticed. At the University of Edinburgh, he runs the Travel Tech Innovation Hub and the Scottish Tourism Data Partnership, which gather data on how tourism is changing. He also started Traveltech for Scotland, a network of more than 200 companies, and chairs the group that advises Scotland’s tourism and hospitality leaders on data, AI and technology. Along the way, he has worked with businesses, destinations and governments, which means he sees the same trends from several sides at once.

Seeing it from several angles helps, because travel is being pushed in several directions at once. Technology is changing how people find, book and experience trips, while politics, markets and the expectations of both travellers and local residents are shifting too. For anyone running a travel business, it’s hard to know which of these changes deserve attention now and which can wait.

Joshua opens the summit with the keynote “How Does It All Fit Together? Travel, Technology and the Years Ahead.” He’ll go through the long-term trends, the early signs already showing up in the market, and the open questions leaders should keep an eye on. He’ll also cover what this means for the people running the industry day to day, where to put their attention, what to set aside for now, and which skills and habits will count most in the years to come. Join us in Barcelona on October 29th to see it live!
